Wowzers!! Back so soon, soooo unlike me!!

Think I should re name this blog 'What Kitschy Swapped Next'!! A couple more swaps to add....

Another dotee doll, Autumn Leaves Dottee swap

For this swap you will make one dotee inspired by Autumn leaves.

Requirements:

One (1) dotee for one (1) partner
Has to be 4' -6" before hanger and tail.
Must have hanger and tail.

*This dotee can be inspired by the colors of changing leaves, can be the shape of a leaf or can be leaf print, but must represent Fall.

And a Facebook Halloween Plushie group swap! I loved doing this one, I made a smaller version (another swap) which I've only got a really bad pic of as I didn't have any spare camera batteries, this one is twice the size, I'm dead impressed with it even if I do say so myself!! He's going in the post today, his new owner lives in the UK for a change so I'm hoping she'll get it tomorrow.

Think I missed at least two 'nail pics' so here is the latest.

The last ones had flames, I so loved them and wished I'd got a pic! Would really like some skulls doing next week ready for Halloween but don't imagine they'd be too easy to free hand!! Maybe I'll get flames again hmmmm.

D#1, and I (with some friends) went to see Katy Perry last week!! Not the best picture but you get the idea.

Time has got the better of me once again!! I really don't seem to be good at keeping up with this blog thing!

Just a quickie, a few swap pics to show....

My second dotee doll, this time Summer themed treat

You can make any summer time treat or staple. Some ideas are ice cream cones, popsicles, snowcones, could even be a burger,or hotdog.Please do be sure it is a distinguishable treat, and this is a summer treat dotee, not a fast food dotee (no fries).

Important: The dotee MUST be shaped not just a print on a regular shape dotee.

And Coffin Buddy swap!! I loved this one but was quite a challenge making a buddy to fit inside the coffin!!

first you will make a little coffin box. you get this great print out template from martha stewart here:http://www.marthastewart.com/265416/coffin-treat-boxthen you will make a cute little buddie to go in it! it can be a vampire, werewolf, voodoo doll, whatever you want. it can be hand made from scratch, repruposed doll to make it creepy/cute. but it must fit inside the coffin with the lid closed!

A vampire bunny loosely based on this tutorial, but a lot smaller!! The carrot was made up as I went along as was the Halloween fabric bedding!!

Well once again it's been a while, a busy few weeks and a week in Wales! Kids a back in school well I say back D#2 only started on Monday but she absolutely loves it!! Her new teacher is D#1's teacher from two years ago, he moved from year 2 to reception so it's really nice she knows him quite well, she's settled in from the minute she walked in!! Makes Mummy's life so much easier knowing she's happy already :o)

Finshied my WHIP from last time

She's been received by her new owner in Ohio,USA. I hope she's what a dotee is meant to be like!?

Also completed an Ernie the Envie swap (see link box on the right to see what he looks like!) here's my plush version!

I treated myself to some bits from a lovely site Rainbow Catz, I'm a sucker for cute stuff!! I tried to restrain myself (quite well I thought!!!)

Never used deco tape before but I'm loving this! Dunno what I'll use it for? Maybe just pretty parcels?

I also bought this miniature doughnut set! For no reason other than it being so darn cute!!!

A few things to show!

Firstly a swap received today

A fabric pouch swap made from this tutorial . I was a bit disappointed with the way mine turned out cause it didn't look anywhere near as good as the one on the tutorial, but was pleased with the one made for me and sent with this lovely piece of fabric inside which I should have probably ironed before I took a pic!

Here's the one I made

Took the kids swimming last week and to a lovely little paint a pot place (which cost me an obscene amount of money!!!!) I took my camera but like a complete pillock completely forgot to take any pics!! (How??!!) You paint your pot and collect it the week after wen they have fired it. D#1 did a football money box

D#2 did a cupcake

I did a plate with their hand prints on, I did one a few years ago so it's really nice to compare them.

They've have gone to their granny and grandad's in Wales for a couple of weeks, missing them like crazy but they are having a lovely time without mummy and daddy!! It's very quiet without them, but nice to have some me time while JL is at work!

Got my nails done

Pretty much the same as last time but pink! I'm going to start blogging my nails I think hehe.

Made a couple of dream catchers which I'm loving, made one for my mum years ago, I omitted the traditional feathers not being a fan (veggie)

A pink one was the first I made

And a purple one with skull charms, thought it looked a bit different!

In the middle of doing a red one but not sure what to put on it yet.

It's my first ever Dotee doll!

What is a dotee? A dotee is a small art doll, 3" - 5" tall. Dotees also have a loop for hanging. Tails are optional. If you like them or it adds to your over all look your going for - add one.

A Vegas Showgirl dotee to be more precise, fingers crossed she'll turn out how I hope. She's for a Swap-bot swap! Will have to think of a name for her!!

Another day, another swap received!!!

This time from France!

This swap was called CUPCAKE CRAZY, the bio....

This was the first thing I pulled out! My sender said it took her about 5 days to do it, I'm really not surprised, the stitches are teeny tiny and made just for me!!

This was the next thing out, I didn't realise what it was at first cause it got a bit squished - but soon came back to shape!

....the camera phewwwwww!!! *Wipes brow* it randomly appeared in my other handbag - no idea how that happened! I'm feeling a lot better now!

Today I received two parcels! My usual weekly Graze box which is brill!! Basically it's four punnets of goodness delivered to your door however often you want, if you'd like to try one for free (no catch) enter this code KTNJ79D absolutely no obligation!! I'd have taken a picture but the girls decided to eat most of it before I found the camera!!

So the other parcel *gets giddy* another swap!! Sweet Escape!! The person I send to if different from the person who sends to me, works kinda like a round robin.

Well it's the second day of the summer holidays and so far we've done absolutely nothing!!!

I've somehow 'misplaced' my camera so I can't even show you the lovely Sweet Escape swap package I received this morning :o( Just hope I didn't loose it when I was out on Friday night because I don't remember seeing it since! Totally gutted :o( :o(

Funny Ole Day

Lack of post yesterday wasn't due to cake failure after all!!! Had quite a busy one, started the day getting my nails done (well that's not exactly busy)

Followed by LOTS of baking, icing and packing into boxes!

Then we took D#1 to get her ears pierced!!!!!! She's been wanting them done for so long but I've always felt she was a bit young, she asked yet again a few weeks ago and to my shock I said yes!!!! She's 8, I guess that's old enough for her to decide, seems quite a few other people had had the same idea and we ended up cueing outside the shop!!!

I do a few bits at school, apart from being Chair of the parent association (I have to say that cause it makes me feel special, but in truth I think they only voted me cause I arrange the girls' nights out!!!!) I also do fruit in school a couple of days which just involves washing it, counting it out and delivering it to the classes (and standing around having a right old laugh with the cook!!) on a Friday I help out with snack time in nursery, it only takes about an hour sometimes a bit longer just to get their snack and drinks ready, and interact with the kids - I love it, apart from the fact I get to spy on D#2 and see her in a different light, the other kids are so refreshing it really brightens my day, anyway end of term today and to my surprise they got me a gift to say thanks!!!!!! Really made my day :o)

Picking D#2 up from nursery at home time I felt quite emotional, can't beleive she'll be starting school in a few weeks!!!!

End of term girls night out tonight, it may be a while before I surface!!

Strawberries!

Today was one of those days I fancied making something but didn't really know what! So I decided I needed a new pin cushion!!

It's quite a beast compared to it's regular size buddies

I love making little strawberries, yet to find an actual use for them though!!

Just off to D#2's first ever parent's evening, only 2 days left of nursery - can't believe my baby is just a few weeks off starting 'big school' roll on the summer holidays!!!

Busy day tomorrow - I'll be mostly baking cupcakes for leaving presents for both girls to give to their teachers, I bought some nice cupcake boxes with matching cases the other day, only hope my new oven does me proud!!! If you don't see a picture or two here tomorrow you'll know I failed miserably!!

When I said I'd joined Swap-Bot I think I created a new addiction for myself!! This is the one I posted today to a lady in Israel!! The title of this one was Sweet Escape! Non-edible

For this swap you will send at least 3 items to 1 partner with a sweets theme!

Please only send sweet themed items such as candy, ice cream, cake/cupcakes, fruit, popsicles, cookies etc!

I'm loving the whole felt food thing at the moment I whipped up the chocolate iced doughnut yesterday, didn't take very long and I quite like it!! The strawberries and ice cream brooch I made a while ago to send along another Scrabble tile keyring and a strawberry paper clip type thing. I hope she likes it!!

Looks like I might be back after possibly the longest blogging break in history!!!

Just over 3.....yes THREE years later it would appear I'm back - for how long it remains to be seen!! Not much has happened really, JL is now my husband!! (Get me - an honest woman!!) D#1 is now the not so proud owner of a nut allergy which is surprisingly makes life very restrictive on top of the fact she's a vegetarian! D#2 has got 4 days left in nursery, before she starts 'big school' after the summer hols, can't believe it!!!!!

I've found a renewed zest for craft type stuff in the form of a couple of plushie swaps on Facebook and Swap-Bot, the later of which I've only just joined but loving it!!

I'll share my 2nd Facebook plushie swap as I've not got a picture handy of my received plushie from the first one.

There is only one rule and it is that your plushie must be an original design from your own brain and not copied from a book or someone else

Which is quite easily said!! The theme for the swap was Stars and Stripes, I had it sussed in my head but it didn't really work out that way in reality!!

The stars and stripes were a bit lame - a star on top of the icing and the stripe was round the waffer on the top, still I was quite pleased at how it turned out, I also sent my swapper a Scrabble tile toaster keyring. Don't think they've arrived in Canada yet though.

In return I received this gorgeous little chappie by the name of Al McFluffytail

How utterly fab is he?!!!!!! He came with a little note in the tiniest, neatest hand writing that said.....

Hello, long time no blog and all that! We've been to Wales for a few days, D#1 is back to school after half term and I'm about caught up with the washing- where does time go to??

A VERY long over due thank you to the lovely most generous Clare who sent me Mr P a lovely little parcel just before we went away with not one but FOUR Super Stylish Tank Tops! Here is the cheeky little chap in all his glory!

And this is is special top for special occasions and to remind him of his roots! (it's got a black and white stripy back....hehe)

Quilt Update #3

Well it's finished, sent and received. I think I can safely say Clare likes it (it's on her living room wall already!) It was a bit sort of free style abstract in Clare's favourite colours.

I also sent Clare a bag (and matching tissue holder) I made her from this clever tutorial from Ric-Rac as a little thank you for very generously offering to make Mr P some tank tops.

I can't wait to see if Lucy's going to do another swap I've had so much fun with the ones she arranged already - thank you Lucy!! I've just signed up for (eyes left) LucyKate's Toadstool Swap can't wait to crack on with that!

I might have indulged in a tad of retail therapy of late, three days, three parcels Tuesday brought a parcel Buttonberry beautifully packaged felt like it was my birthday! (Yes I know I should have taken pics) I don't know if I'm really shallow and love to receive gifts or if I really appreciate the time and effort some people put in to make their customers feel special......let's go with the latter ;o) I only ordered a pattern and some fat quarters - made my day!! Wednesday brought therapy from The Fat Quarters in the form of more Melly & Me patterns.......

Quilt Update #2

A little sneak peak, don't think it gives too much away!

Thank you Lucy and Clare for your labelling advice, I accidentally stumbled across some inkjet fabric!! I didn't know such a thing existed but it's printed and ready to be sewn on. My quilt front is more or less finished so just a few little bits to do now, I hope Clare is going to like it!!

Quilt Update #1

Well I've actually started on my quilt! I usually work a lot better under last minute pressure but I really wanted to get on with this - probably cause I don't know how long it's going to take me to get it right!

I bought some fabric off Etsy - won't say where just yet just in case my swap partner Clare is as nosey as I am ;o) I didn't buy it for the quilt but it just so happens to fit in with Clare's colour preferences, I washed it (holding my breath nearly) and ironed it, looked at it and thought about it.......quite a few times, I planned it in my head (hoho) and cut it out, I was going to get my machine out but D#2 woke up from her nap so that put pay to that! I'm hoping she'll have another sleep this afternoon (mainly cause she was up half the night) I'm struggling as to when you actually do the quilting bit but I'm sure I'll work it out. I did find this really good binding tutorial from Heather Bailey not sure if I'm confident enough to try it yet being the quilting virgin that I am but I might surprise myself. I'm really really puzzled over how to do the labelling with all the info I'm meant to so if anyone has any top tips feel free to ~~help me out of the mire~~ share them.

Apparently yesterday was No Housework Day!! The thing is I only found this out from JL after he came from work, I asked him why he didn't tell me early to which he replied 'Why have you filled the dishwasher or something' *gasp* cheeky @*#@, I really have no idea what he's on about!!!!!!

You may have noticed a little colourful addition on the left hand side, lovely Lucy is arranging another swap! I wasn't going to join having no clue whatsoever about making quilts, mini or otherwise but Lucy managed to twist my arm, I'm excited and nervous at the same time but very grateful for the encouragement so thank you Ms Locket!!

I don't ever remember waking up on an Easter Sunday to find a covering of snow! I wasn't quick enough with my camera to snap it before it all melted, I may have been up just after 6 but wasn't planning on venturing outside at stupid o'clock freezing my tits off so you'll just have to take my word for it!

Firstly happy birthday to Jim Lad for yesterday! We didn't do very much but someone had a rather nice lie in (not me) and breakfast in bed (not me!)

1st day of the Easter holidays I only hope the rest won't be as stressful with the two young uns squabbling, D#2 seems to be having a rather frustrated phase with lots of ear piecing screaming when she wants something or doesn't get her own way, then D#1thinks it funny to mimic her so D#2 screams more then it's a screaming game - once a day I could put up with but not every time D#2 wants something - just hope it's a short lived phase!!

It was my dad's birthday yesterday (not that he can even use a computer and he wouldn't know what a blog was!) but happy birthday dad anyway! These days I'm a smidgen taller than him!

In my absence I have been productive! Four crash test bunnies for the Bunny Swap, #4 will be the one getting posted to Diane in New Jersey tomorrow! She has an essence of Frankenstein's Monster but I think she's the best I could come up with. She's been hanging around for a few weeks now and I think I've come quite attached to her - I'll be sad to see her go *sniff*

I've also made a Tiny Happy bag I love these bags, so simple and the tutorial is brill, it's the second one I've made the first one was last year for my brother's girlfriend's birthday, she's a big bag fan in general but it seems not of my bag or maybe just not of handmade - gutted to say the least but I'm sure it's very happy at 'the bottom of the wardrobe' *sigh*

I've been making some brooches too like the one on the bag, will share more another time.

My Valentine swap!!

I don't know where I found the will power to actually take it upstairs (D#1's room is the lightest to take pics) and take a picture of it before I ripped it open to find this lovely lot....

Where to start? Firstly I think Juliann my swap partner must be phycic! Apart from this that she may have had a sneaky suspicion I had a thing about

(It is amazing - Cranberry flavour? Organic? I've only had one 'application' and I think I'm addicted to it, smells lurverly) it was hiding inside this cute little pouch

Juliann blogged a few weeks ago about these sweet little strawberries she was going to make, I secretly hoped she might have been making me one for the swap (oh is that naughty?)

It may not be unusual in the States but pink....that's pink if you missed it the first time hot chocolate!! I spied some on Heather Bailey's blog and had a shifty but couldn't find it anywhere - now I have my very own! Will have to hide it from D#1.......hehe

So other than the above mentioned there was also a hand quilted heart, some lovely fabric, some hand died silk ribbon and and bag full of Valentiney themed buttons, beads and charms and to top it all everything was PINK!!

I was going to tell you about crash test bunny #2 who turned out a whole lot better than the first one!! And the teddy ears and badge I made for the teddy bear's picnic D#1 is going to at school tonight.....but that will have to wait for now!

Ever do something so stupid you wonder how on earth you managed it? Namely doing a wash load with dishwasher tablets!! My knickers will have a lovely glass finish! *Insert stoopid face here*

Make a softie bunny - how hard can that be?! Oh dear......ohhhhh very dear.

I scoured the net for some sort of help but didn't find much, so I set to with scissors and paper (ho ho) to see if I could come up with some sort of pattern, in theory it seemed like a good idea, the 'pattern' looked quite good, but then I'm not sure what happened......

I couldn't be bothered to get my camera out so I wodged it's head on the scanner

Oh well back to the drawing board!!

Half term is over - I was really looking forward to us girlies spending some time together and doing some nice things, what happened I really don't know - I think I blinked and missed it, back to early starts and ironing uniforms already!

Tomorrow I'm starting a numeracy course at school, something to do with helping your kids with maths in year 1. D#2 will be going into the crèche which is going to be held in the school nursery - she's never really been left with anyone other than her daddy while I've popped to the shops or gone to the hair dressers - I can't imagine she'll be too impressed, me neither! :o(

D#1 has this really annoying habit of asking what the time is, then asking again two minutes later....then again 6 minutes later....then again 3 minutes later....you get the picture, after a while it wears a bit thin so I started saying 'Hammer Time' *blush* now if she asks me and I tell her the real time she actually wants me to say 'Hammer Time'!! so last night after she'd had a bath and was putting her PJ's on we went through the usual routine and she asks 'Mummy what is Hammer Time?' a quick search on You Tube

We're both bopping away like a pair of idiots while The Story Makers is on the telly in the background and it just so happens tonight it's Webster Wordsworth who is on....didn't you always wonder what happened to M.C. Hammer?????

This is what I was going to share yesterday

My slightly rugged recycled denim corsage/brooch.

I don't really like to share the stuff I make, partly down to lack of confidence, partly cause I'm far too self critical and partly due to someone completely ripping off something I once made.

Anyway I'm really quite pleased with it, I've been playing with different sizes and layers, this one is quite big at around 10cm, I want to make some with some fat quarters JL treated me to at the weekend.

I've been meaning to make myself a pin cushion for a while but just not got round to it until yesterday

It's based on this tutorial from Whipup with a strap so I can wear it on my wrist. Maybe my super bright ironing board wasn't the best thing to photograph it on! It's not exactly perfect but not bad considering I did most of it with a poorly D#2 sat/sleeping on my knee, it will do for now. I made some shrink plastic pins at the weekend too, the tutorial courtesy of Wee Wonderfuls was linked from the pin cushion tutorial!

It was the most fun I've ever had staring into my oven waiting for the magic to happen!

.....for moaning that is *blush* swimming wasn't half as bad as usual, maybe it's because I had a big ole moan before hand. Some nice man even helped me down a flight of stairs with the pushchair!! D#1 later said 'Wasn't it really nice of that man you didn't even know to help you down the stairs?' Bless! Chivalry isn't completely dead after all - thank you Mr Man whoever you are for brightening my day.

Pancakes didn't go too badly either - didn't toss any though *hangs head in shame*

Tuesday Stress

I don't much like Tuesdays since D#1 started swimming lessons last month, seemed like a good idea at the time but I don't think I'm one of those Mummy's who can juggle 68 things at once....OK not quite that many but I don't enjoy the mad rush after school trying to persuade one small child she needs to get a wriggle on, hurry up, get changed, have a wee, un-glue herself from the PC/telly etc and persuade the smaller child it really would be a good idea to eat something even though it's not really quite your tea time yet but by the time we get home it will be your bed time and you'll be too tired to attempt to eat anything. I don't enjoy bumping a swimming bag, nappy bag and hand bag laden pushchair up three lots of steps while trying to encourage the oldest small child to walk next to me rather than in front of me (or behind me in backwards step bumping mode) because I really will run you over if you get in the way! I don't like having to abandon the pushchair in a steaming hot changing room hoping that it will still be there when I return from struggling up another two flights of stairs and squashing my way past people who really are just too busy blocking the very narrow pathway along the viewing gallery (is that what it's called?) carrying a small child who I will have to try and entertain for the next very long 40 minutes by shoving biscuits/chocolate buttons/quavers down her throat while her sister swims the opposite way to all her swimming lesson buddies (eh?! Why my child??) I really don't like the mad rush to collect the soaking fish, coaxing her to get dry/dressed/not be so nosey (she told me last week she saw 'boy's willies' *rolls eyes* then bumping the pushchair back down three lots of steps into the cold dark night then home again to cook tea for JL and sort bed time out etc etc.

I don't know why I get so flustered - why can't I be one of those mothers who take it all in their stride?

Today is Shrove Tuesday aka pancake day which selfishly adds more stress to my Tuesday, cause I'll be expected to be the pancake cooking, tossing, all singing dancing monkey but I did find this for your tossing pleasure if you have nothing else to do!

I'm such a ~~crap blogger~~ busy mummy I meant to post this the day before yesterday but obviously it never happened!

I stumbled across this recipe on Moogsmum's blog, of course being the honorary Yorkshire lass that I am I thought I'd give it a go (it looked really easy too), it was indeed really easy - the hardest part is remembering to put your fruit in tea to soak the night before (otherwise I would have made it a few days earlier!) So after winging the greased and lined tin bit (I never did enjoy the whole lining procedure) and praying my one and only loaf type tin would be big enough, it turned out brilliantly even if I do say so myself! (Thanks Lesley!) I did take a photo to prove it but then when I looked back at the recipe pic I decided it was ~~pants~~ not quite the same standard, so I'm not going to embarrass myself by sharing it!!

So instead here is my very own Yorkshire pudding eating my very own Yorkshire tea bread - that sounds strangely cannibalistic!

She loved it! I'm in the process of soaking more fruit - I forgot to do it last night so did it at 7.30 this morning *rolls eyes* so I can make another one later!

I've also dusted down my sewing machine and done a bit of sewing *gasp* nothing to show though cause it didn't all go to plan, oh well but I had fun :o)

I Have a Confession

*Stands up* Hello my name is Kitschy and I'm an addict.......a lipsalve addict *sits back down*

Yes tis true I would go as far as saying I'm addicted to lipsalve, for as long as I can remember in fact - to the extent that I have to have one on me at all times - if it's not on my person then it will be on the desk, arm of the settee, next to the bed etc. I'm usually a jeans wearer but on the days I might be wearing something that doesn't have pockets then my lipsalve will be shoved down my bra (slightly too much information there I fear but indeed true) I don't have a problem with my 'addiction' I'm quite happy with my little vice unless of course I were to leave the house without one then I would get all panicky and hope that I can cope for however long I'm away from my lipsalve (but I do have a spare in my bag just in case). It is actually a thing of need, I do as my dad and brother always have suffered from really dry lips if I was left un lipsalved god help me!! (my defence your honer)!

This is not always a healthy vice in the instance of when I was pregnant with D#1 I informed JL and my mum that if I went into sudden labour to please, please, please make sure I had my lipsalve, I gave my mum one to have in her bag just in case, but of course when it came down to it and I'd been having contractions every five minutes, in excruciating pain the time came for me to go to the hospital I did of course have my lipsalve! D#1's birth wasn't very straight forward my planned water birth didn't happen (silly me for thinking otherwise!) after literally days in labour (Tuesday morning 7am til Thursday evening 8.08pm) I had one terribly long pain (30 minutes!!) they wheeled me from one room to another in a rather a rushed scary episode my lipsalve got lost *gasp* when my epidural I'd been made to have (yes really but gratefully in the end!!) kicked in I realised I was without my lipsalve!!!!!!!!! Mum actually asked someone to go and look for it *blush* but they couldn't find it, she then remembered the one with the crumpled tissues and leaky pens at the bottom of her bag......all was well!

I know which lipsalves do it for me and which don't, it's not just a case of any old thing will do! I'm a stick rather than tub kinda gal, my all time favourite used to be a Lemon Sherbet one Boots made but they stopped doing it *sign* they only used to last me a week max, then there is the old faithful

This one lasts me about two weeks probably, it is really good - to the extent where my lovely auntie Joyce had really dry lips for weeks and weeks and tried everything and didn't work I gave her a spare one (always have some in stock) and it sorted her out, we found out quite a while later that her dry lips were one of the symptoms her cancer had returned.

Anyway.....

Then I started buying these ones from Avon......

All shiny and new!

But just before Xmas I stumbles across something much more exciting......

US imports - Cherry 7UP!! (This one is used up - look at the top, a ring pull!) lemonade and....wait for it......chocolate cake with creamy filling but that's just wrong I'm afraid, I had a bubble gum one too that smelt just like 2p bubble gums I used to buy when I was a kid - can't remember what they were called though.

Then in Claire's a couple of weeks ago I found these.....

There is a cherry coke one too but it's missing in action

All these new flavours are very exciting to me and my little addiction but now I'm writing this post and taken the pictures

D#1 has gone to stay with my brother and his girlfriend for the weekend they have taken her to see her very first panto at The Brindley they are probably doing the whole 'he's behind you' thing as I type!

Very strange coincidence I received a random message on facebook earlier this week from a friend I went to primary school with, she works at The Brindley I hope my bro tracks her down tonight and says hello.

I always used to be crap scared of pantos and shows when I was a kid in case some mad fella dressed as a woman entered the audience and came near me or even worse tried to make me do something embarrassing, it never happen.....well not while I was a kid anyway. I took my little sister to see Bodger and Badger *cringe* a few years ago (on my birthday!!) I got mauled by a flipping mash potato munching puppet! For those of you who are fortunate enough not to know who I'm on about....

Now you too can share my embarrassment!!

I've very nervously joined my very first blog swap! I was umming and ahhhing a bit but then thought what the hell, maybe it will jump start me crafting again, getting quite excited now. The swap is to include something handmade (oooow errrr), something chocolatey and some craft supplies the last two I can do but my little brain is going ten to the dozen for the first bit.

Our house has been full of germs and sickness over the New Year, we did manage to go to Wales to see mum and co but that's when D#2 came down with the nasties - funny how she really perked up the day we came home bless her.

D#2 has started to walk!! She took her first step in the beginning of November so she's taken quite a bit to find her confidence to actually walk across the room, so cute to see her wobbling about.

No pics, I will have to rectify that and my lack of crafting - the reason why I started this blog. No New Years resolutions for me but I'm going to try and make time to do more crafting, since I stopped card making I've been a bit in limbo trying to find something to float my boat the way paper used to - hey ho.

Happy Anniversary

I really can't believe we've been together for a whole 6 years - no idea where the time went!!

This was meant to be JL's anniversary present but I ended up giving it to him for Xmas instead - we don't really do the whole anniversary thing more looking at each other in dazed disbelief as each year zooms by!

Christmas was over in a blink of an eye, I impressed myself by cooking my first ever Christmas dinner!! The first year we were together JL was obviously loved up enough to promise to always make Xmas dinner, this year though I thought I'd do it so daddy could spend some time with all four of his kids (plus the kitchen was a lot quieter)

As Good As It's Going To Get

It didn't happen last night after all, half the tree decs and lilac lights were mysteriously missing, I went hunting for them today but alas nowhere to be seen?! My heart wasn't really in it but when I couldn't find my Playmobil tree ornaments the situation just got worse. I did consider hanging ~~myself~~ HP22 from it instead but thought he might get a bit dusty by 12th night.

It got to 1.55pm so I thought I better do something before mini me finished school , 2.12pm it was finished, think that must be a record for me - a whole 17 minutes!!!!! It probably does look a bit 'chucked up' but it's got the key elements....lights, tinsel, shiny balls and a star. Must have taken me longer to find an adapter for the lights!

Nearly forgot the most important thing CHOCOLATE!!! Must say I'm impressed with my chocolate umbrellas for the only reason we used to have these on our tree when I was little. I've had a generally shit day today but as soon as I switched the tree lights on I felt a whole lot better!

JL has had a couple of days off work so I ~~told him~~ asked sweetly if we could go shopping to finish off my gift buying - fab day got it all done and dusted except one thing that he's going to get for me, all my Xmas stresses are now gone - hooray!! Of course while we were out I got 'carded' aka Mr Postie (cheeky little chap that he is) was unable to deliver, so I had to wait until today to pick up my parcel (boy I hate that!!) It was either one of two things and indeed it was wait for it...............

HP22!!

I was going to do the whole photoies of the unwrapping of the very lovely brown paper but I ~~couldn't be arsed~~ was just too excited, when I managed to get through the previously mentioned lovely brown paper D#2 must have know something exciting was in the cause she proceeded to rip off the just as lovely Christmasy tissue paper and snog (of course no tongues) HP22 within an inch of his life! She then discovered the yummy chocs I'd just unwrapped and quickly abandoned HP22 (how shallow can you get at 15 months?!) 2 minutes later after her initial chocolate hit went looking again for said monkey, I'm of the verge of a panic attack at the sight of the chocolate covered baby after my monkey! We quickly ~~hid~~ went to do some gift wrapping.

Bless him he was very tired after his journey (and countless kisses from D#2) and had a little lie down in D#1's bed....for all of 2 seconds before I promptly told him to earn his keep

As it turns out HP22 is a dab hand at wrapping and soon had most of it sorted

Until we ran out of paper *rolls eyes*

But in the process monkey has discovered what he wants for Christmas

Pinky Bunny was not in the slightest bit amused to say the least and I was forced to wrestle a Sylvanian Families chair from his sticky little mits before he pumbled the poor monkey's head in - it appears in his haste to use up the last bit of wrapping paper he forgot to check which flavour (Mr) Pinky Bunny is......

So thank you MM for my beautifully crafted monkey made of knit - I can finally bin the memories of scary scarecrows and creepy clowns I at the age of 31 possess my own knit to love.

Did you ever have one of those? Some random 'nit nurse' who used to come every so often and check the whole school for nits! I wonder if they still have them? Why I mention it I was informed the other day about a kid in D#1's class who has had 'crawly's' since she started school ie SEPTEMBER!!!!! To say I'm mortified would be a slight understatement. It's unfortunate if you do get them - but there really is NO excuse for having them that long. D#1 and I both have long hair D#2 is getting that way and I really don't want to have to keep de nitting the whole family (not that we have them - I've checked!!) because someone can't be arsed to sort her kids out!!!! *Growl* rant over!

Onto another sort of knitting.....

I've always always always wanted to knit, my mum can knit really badly (she can't cast on or off!!) I've asked her to teach me in the past but because I'm left handed it's just too complicated to grasp in reverse especially as my tutor can't knit anyway!

When I was little there would be these things.....knitted things.....I remember certain friends used to have them I used to love them, they were always knitted by grannies or nannies, both my grannies died before I discovered the 'knits of love' (I think only one could knit anyway) I used to look at these 'knits of love' and wish someone loved me enough to spend all that time and effort making me one (I obviously had an early appreciation of things handcrafted!)

Busy busy

Well we've been busy over the last week or so, D#1 turned 5 (how did that happen???) she had her birthday party at Brewster's on Sunday. She's always had a thing for Brewster Bear

Some things don't change except maybe Brewster is looking a little tattier and D#1 a lot taller!

We (JL and me) actually went out last Friday (as in out out with no children!!) We very rarely get to go out due to lack of baby sitter but JL decided that his twins who will be 15 on two months would be up for the job, I was very apprehensive to say the least but I think I would be even if they were 10 years older *shame on me* anyway it was his former work's Xmas outing, nothing very exciting just an intimate meal with 10 other people at a Cantonese restaurant my meal mainly consisted of red wine due to lack of veggie starters plus a massive plate full of sizzling meat to follow, by the time my meal arrived I was well on my way and absolutely staving (maybe there is another reason I don't get taken out?!) but all was well even if I did have to wolf a bowl of Shreddies when I got home.

Busy time at school for madam too with another school trip last week, Xmas dinner today, Xmas fare (with SANTA!!!) tomorrow, concert on Tuesday and Wednesday, party Thursday and break up on Friday - I never remember school being such a social event when I was 4/5!

Some VERY exciting news to share tomorrow (I won't bore you anymore now!) well I say tomorrow that's if I can be arsed to try and make my life sound anymore interesting than it really is......

Turns out Scooby Doo didn't go down quite as well with D#1 as we thought - she wanted to be a Princess like everyone else (well obviously not the boys!)

How do you actually know when to keep your kid off school if they are unwell? When I was a kid I'd milk it all I could to get a day off, mini me didn't stop coughing for a literally a whole hour after she got up this morning she seems pretty much OK apart from that but I thought I'd better get her down the docs now she's moaning she wants to go to school, she's bored, she'll miss her friends etc etc - it's only 9.05am!! I'm sure I never liked school that much!!

Saw this yesterday and made me smile......

.....think autumn must be over now though, leaves are more soggy than crunchy!

You know these bright ideas like Pajama Day (in the middle of winter), Wacky Hair Day (eh?) and today is Book Character Fancy Dress Day!!

They do seem like good ideas at the time of bringing 'the letter' home from school until that is two days before when you realise you've forgotten all about it! Mad scramble to the shops visualizing little red riding hood or something cute and girlie (avoiding any princess cause you know they'll be at least half a dozen of those already in a class of 16) finding the only little red riding hood looks like some nasty cheesy little number that would look more at home in an adult size in one of 'those' films. I did consider making something but I'd still have to go and buy some material from somewhere!

When I was a kid I thought he was a giant - he was so tall and the only man I knew without a beard!!!

Getting up at 8am on a Sunday morning is not my idea of bliss, when you have kids you don't have much choice but then I remembered Monkee Maker's shop was being stocked this morning 'horrray' I even hurried down stairs to switch the PC on!! Thought I might be able to finally get my sticky paws on a monkey made of knit (who gets up early on a Sunday?) alas it was not to be *insert sad face here* absolutely gutted!! *Sniff*

Another birthday party this afternoon my D#1 has a better social life than me......well actually my only social life is sitting around at birthday parties!!!!!!!!

It's official I'm a crap blogger - it's not that I've forgotten I'm just not very good at making my life sound more interesting than it really is!

D#1 lost her first tooth yesterday, it's been hanging on since Halloween and fell out at school yesterday. Under the pillow it went last night along with umpteen pictures for the tooth fairy, she was most surprised this am to find she'd actually been and left her a 'gold coin' aka a quid (is that the going rate these days?) along with a letter and fairy dust - the less said about flipping fairy dust the better!!

My new addiction has got to be facebook, when I first joined a few weeks ago I did some random searches (as you do) looking for people I might know, my surname if fairly unusual so typed that in and came up with some interesting results and now found some new relatives! Thought I'd share this photo

The little boy at the front (left) is my grandad (who I never knew) and his sister on the right, the man at the very back left is their dad and the lady next to him is their mum, the picture must have been taken around 1904 she died 3 years later at the age of 26 I found out he went on to marry again and had another daughter in 1909 but died in 1913 at the age of 34. It makes me feels so very sad at the loss of such young life. The lady at the back 3rd from left (my great granny's sister) brought up my grandad. I love this photo and feel such privilege to have it.

JL's pumpkin - obviously I should have posted it yesterday *rolls eyes* I was super busy trying to work out my new camera (too lazy to read instructions!) so I could list some lovelies on eBay....

Back to Halloween.....

Call me a miserable cow but I can't usually be arsed to answer the door to kids who can't be more original than donning a bin bag, anyway this year D#1 and me answered the door (obviously I was hiding behind my 4 year old) not a bin bag in sight! I was very impressed all the little monsters had made such efforts! I was very concerned at the lack of adults though - when you get a knock on the door by a couple of 6 or 7 year olds I want to track down their parents and shake them violently - what is wrong with people??????!!

It's been and gone, was very uneventful - depressing even, but made up for it today!

We went to the vegetarian cafe in Holmfirth the food really is amazing but they obviously haven't heard about service with a smile! It's the second time I've been and the waitress' were both as miserable as each other on both occasions! It's only a very small place so you couldn't even say they were too busy to smile!!!

Well I think most places had half term last week but we have it next week - a whole week (plus two extra training days) of not having to get up at 6am!! Don't suppose we'll do much out of the ordinary but it will be lovely to spend time with my two girlies *warm fuzzy feeling*

Most Haunted starts tonight from Tatton Park my grandad used to live just up the road - I've been there loads of times but didn't know it was full of spooks...............or not as the case maybe ;o)

So the reason why I've never started a blog before now probably is (apart from as previously mentioned) I just don't have anything to blog about!! Yes my life really is that dull! Absolutely nothing of interest has happened to me all week apart from my car conking out at traffic lights on an very steep hill (facing down - something to do with the diesel feed pipe).

*Yawn* Note to self - get a life!

A week to my birthday! Tis exciting, except I have a really bad feeling I will be spending it alone doing nothing - well as alone as you can be with a small rug rat much as I love her (even though she's had me up since 4am).

I can't even post any nice pictures due to lack of lovely camera.

I will try harder to be more entertaining - I promise!

I've not blogged for nearly a week!

I've not had anything exciting to report, it's all been pretty shitty news to be honest but best not go there.

Anyway!....

Facebook oh my word where have I been? I joined last week and been having a mad strange time of it ever since finding friends from primary school and people I've not spoken to for years! Great stuff but slightly addictive!

I've not done any crafting what so ever since Eric - bad show, feeling a tad uninspired I really should pull my finger out and find something to do!

Look what I got in the post yesterday off my mum!! I'm not sure what gives her the impression that I actually do any housework but never mind - fab socks, so me and just my colour. Cheers mum.

Why does no one ever tell you how expensive school is? I'm not talking posh private school I'm talking run of the mill normal school - D#1 only started last month already I've had to cough up a whole £41.25!! That's not including school uniform, shoes, presents for b'day parties - two so far with another invite this morning. It's not even been a whole month yet! I'm going to have to become a pole dancer or something just to fund my child's education! OK maybe not but sounds good doesn't it....hehe

Firstly I'd like to say ta very muchly for comments from Kae who I spy has her own Socky Thingy and Monkee Maker who has Dennis no offence to Dennis or MM but I about shat my pants when I first saw him pole dancing - don't think it's politically correct to link to other peeps blog pics but look at the last pic!!!!!! Wowzers!

Well I say he's #2 but there were a couple of non starters before him, firstly some really lovely fluffy socks that I thought would look fab as SMs but it just wouldn't sew so they are now on my feet (that sounds a bit cruel) and then there was the orange one - now Eric's fetching hat he has got a scarf but it disappeared this a.m. D#1 related, along with D#2's mittens (last seen worn by Eric) this two-hat (ie me) sewed and cut it the wrong way round that will teach me to get cocky (or just plain lazy) and not read instructions twice!

Sorry for the pooie pics D#1 and I had a slight accident with my camera a couple of weeks ago where it kind of 'flew' across the room and died shortly after - I was absolutely gutted to say the least. I've been using JL's cheapo camera since and it's....*trying to think of a non swear word*....let's just say it's not very good.

Right anyway chickens (if there are any!) it's now 11am and I've not even had a coffee yet *gasp* I've been up since 6am and if it doesn't happen soon I'll be asleep face down drooling into my keyboard within minutes!

1st of the month (can't do it back)!

How did it get to be October already????? My birthday countdown begins now, well actually yesterday as Jim lad kindly told me it was 26 days away.....YIPPEEEEE then reminded me how old I will be *cringe* I've decided I might start counting backwards but not sure how long I could get away with it for? If I was 50 it might work for maybe 5 years or so but how long could I be in my 20's for considering I left them behind last year??

Picked up Jim lad's kids yesterday - I say kids at 14 (twins) his daughter is near enough as tall as me - I'm 5'8" and his son towers over me - I feel like such a short arse!! Our darling daughter #1 is already a small giant at 4 is known to wear 9-10 year old clothes (eh what's that all about?!) Popped to Meadowhell was a nightmare - anyone would think it was a week before Christmas! Primark was unbelievable did bag a baby shoe bargain though.......

LOVE baby shoes LOVE a bargain!! Luckily I do have a baby for the occasion of a baby shoe bargain - darling daughter #2....

She's only worn them once so they are actually still white, this time tomorrow may be a different story!

Also got some socks to have another go at making a sock monkey (or seven), I did make one last week.....

I don't want to say anything that might upset her but she wasn't too bad for a first effort!! She wasn't actually meant to have a nose but those little fingers that are hanging onto her for dear life insisted on it!!

She's been bed hoping ever since and has to take turns between D#1 and D#2, I was reminded yesterday to get a shifty on with making more!! (Oh that sounds dodgy....it was D#1 who reminded me not Flo, cause obviously she's not that kind of monkey)

Oh the party wasn't too painful by the way.......no sign of any pirates though!!

Hmmmm maybe I’ll just leave it for now, think I’ll be talking to myself anyway so what the hell *cringe*I told my other half J this a.m. and he said ‘you’ve not written anything defamatory about anyone have you’ how nice is that?! Does that mean that’s the sort of person I am??

I’ll have a think about that *hangs head in shame*

Got to take daughter #1 to a fun filled party full of 4 and 5 year olds later – can’t wait for that it’s at The Pirate Ship my ears are cringing with the noise already!

Anyway best do something a little more constructive than sit and type into the deep dark world of cyber space…..might be back or might not be we will see……..

Well hello good evening and welcome……who really actually said that?

A quick Google later DAVID FROST?! My god it’s my fourth sentence in on my newly found blog and it’s even more boring than even I anticipated (shock horror) it’s down hill from now on – clearly! There is something about that fella I never liked - sorry Sir Dave, I'm sure you're lovely really *blush*

Why o why o why? Dunno really. It seems that everyone blogs so why shouldn’t she? I doubt I’ll even keep it up for more than two whole weeks – it’s not that I don’t have every good intention, it’s like every year at Christmas when you get a diary from someone who obviously thinks you’re capable of writing/keeping one (or can’t think of anything else to get you). Don’t think I ever even lasted a whole two weeks……..the only time I ever did keep a diary was when I was about 14 or 15 when my mum or step dad (never did find out which) found it, read it then grounded me (for a whole month) for reading the contents – like it ever had anything to do with them anyway????!!! I then went on to rip out every page and burn them (slightly over dramatic do you think??) I'd like to think that if I ever found my kid's diary I wouldn't look!

So this is me –think I’m more surprised that I’m even here! Hello if you’re reading me and……well……never mind if you’re not ;o)
